In the provincial government, the Premier has the ability to shuffle his cabinet and change minister’s jobs, remove ministers, and bring in new faces.
This past week the Premier chose to exercise his power to change things up and in doing so dropped three ministers, shuffled minister’s to different posts, and brought in some new faces.
The Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural affairs has been at the hand of Leona Dombrowsky for the past four-and-a-half years. With the new shuffle in the cabinet this week a new name is taking the Agricultural post. Carol Mitchell is now the new minister of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs. Mitchell is the MPP for Huron-Bruce Counties and spent twelve years in municipal politics before being elected to legislature in 2003. This shuffle could be very beneficial as Mitchell represents the most rural riding, and may show excellent understanding of agricultural issues throughout the province.
